The mass execution of 220 Syrian soldiers near Tabqa airbase
30. AUGUST 2014 / SYRIANFIGHT
Fighters from the Islamic State have killed more than 200 captured soldiers in northern Syria in the past two days.
The mass killing marked a dark end to the battle for control of the Tabqa air base in Raqqa province. The terrorists seized the base Sunday after the deadliest fighting so far between the Islamic State and the Syrian Army.
The soldiers tried to escape to a safe area when the Islamic State surrounded and captured them. They executed them right after capturing them.
